Gina Smith has 25 years’ experience in healthcare with more than 20 of those in supply chain management. She joined HIDA in 2014 and directs the development of industry-specific tools for members and associates to attain operational and strategic objectives. Gina rose to director of marketing at a Midwestern IDN responsible for physician relations, occupational health clinical delivery, and new sales. During her leadership, Gina led the system to its first certification by the American Osteopathic Hospital Association.
Following this, Gina spent 15 years at HPS, Inc., a regional GPO working on both local and regional contract management and sales as well as implementing the Novation portfolio and the MedAssets program with her customer base. As implementation administrator there, she drove contract compliance among new customers in 14 states, created an intranet training site for GPO sales representatives, and spearheaded a new pricing accuracy and revenue reconciliation project.
Using the Premier contract portfolio, Gina developed a GPO affiliate sponsorship program for Adventist HealthCare. The program was sold to National Capital Area Shared Services, a division of the 50-plus-year-old Hospital Council of Greater DC, where Gina became a business development consultant. Gina is accredited by the American Hospital Association as a Certified Materials and Resources Person (CMRP), and she is Accredited in Medical Sales (AMS) by the HIDA AMS Sales Training Program.
